Dreame H14 Pro review: A wet-dry vacuum with a lie-flat design to clean under every furniture

Dreame makes some of the most advanced robot vacuums on the market, such as the X40 Master. It also designs powerful and complete wet-dry vacuums, like the new Dreame H14 Pro. The latter is the brand’s most advanced yet, improving on the Dreame H13 Pro we previously reviewed.

The Dreame H14 Pro packs plenty of innovative features, including hot water roller washing and hot air drying. It detects dirt and adjust the cleaning settings automatically, and even dispense detergent while cleaning. What’s more, it can lie entirely flat, helping clean under furniture with ease.

It’s a strong competitor against the Roborock Flexi Pro and Tineco models. In this detailed review, let’s see how it compares to competitors and if it’s worth considering.

Good

The Dreame H14 Pro combines powerful suction with advanced features like hot water roller washing, automatic dirt detection, and app-controlled settings, making it a considerable choice for deep cleaning. Its self-cleaning and drying functions make maintenance easy and reliable. However, its bulk and weight limit maneuverability. It's ideal if you're seeking high-tech convenience, but it's quite expensive and bulky, and you may want to look for alternative options if you're looking for better value-for-money.

Clunky and visible design

The Dreame H14 Pro comes in a particularly bulky format. It weighs almost 6 kg and comes with a wide body, making it noticeable. The front and back feature black plastics, including the cleaning head, motor, and tanks. The handle is in grey plastic, which extends on both sides and to the bottom of the body. Interestingly, there are four visible screws on the back of the back handle, making the design feel unfinished.

The 880 ml clean water tank is now at the front, together with a non-removable detergent tank, filled from a small opening at the front. The 650 ml used water tank is now at the back, and comes with a HEPA filter and a debris separator to prevent them from mixing with water.

The roller brush, which cleans on both sides, can be easily removed using a side handle. There are also LED lights at the front of the cleaning head, to illuminate dirt when vacuuming.

The H14 Pro’s large display shows the status, cleaning mode, and battery percentage. A color LED strip switches from green to red to indicate the dirt levels when cleaning. It also features a pulsing icon when cleaning, which takes up space and doesn’t add much to the display.

In addition to the usual power, mode, and self-cleaning buttons on the top of the handle, there’s a switch to turn detergent dispensing on or off.

The charging station is relatively compact and slightly raised. It comes with a curved edge at the front that matches the shape of the roller to prevent water splashes. There’s also a metal strip where the roller sits, designed to warm it up and dry it.

As for the build quality, it’s very good. The vacuum feels solidly built, and seems durable.

Great cleaning performance

The Dreame H14 Pro cleans both wet and dry messes thanks to its 18,000Pa suction and 520 rpm roller. It offers five cleaning modes: Auto automatically adjusts the cleaning parameters based on the dirt level. There’s also a suction-only mode, ideal for cleaning up spilled liquids without washing. The ultra mode uses the highest suction and water flow settings. Lastly, the personalized mode lets you adjust the cleaning parameters using the app, for a customizable cleaning experience.

For daily cleaning, it does a great job overall. It’s great at vacuuming pet hair, dust, and even large debris. It also tackles spilled drinks and other wet messes with ease. In most cases, and for light messes, a single pass is enough. However, for tougher stains, such as dried dirt or oil, the H14 Pro struggles a bit more and often requires multiple passes. However, the H14 Pro tends to leave streaks on the floor that remain visible after drying.

The brush roller extends to both sides, meaning it can clean along baseboards and furniture legs. However, the front side doesn’t reach all the way to the wall, meaning you need to turn the vacuum sideways to clean the edges. Also, I’ve noticed the roller continues to operate if you mistakenly vacuum fabrics, like curtains.

The H14 Pro isn’t the easiest wet-dry vacuum to maneuver. Its bulk and heavy weight make it hard to turn and swing around. However, it does lie entirely flat to clean under low furniture, which is a significant improvement over the previous generation.

An app with customizable features

The Dreame H14 Pro comes with Wi-Fi connectivity and app compatibility. Through the app, you can customize a variety of settings, including the default cleaning mode. You can also customize the personalized mode by adjusting the suction power and water flow according to your needs.

You can also remotely initiate a self-cleaning cycle and schedule both cleaning and drying routines.
You can also adjust the roller drying mode and set the vacuum to start cleaning automatically when docked.

Lastly, you can further customize the settings by adjusting the amount of detergent that’s added, as well as the propulsion speed.

The app interface is user-friendly, making it simple to tailor the settings to your needs. Additionally, the H14 Pro provides voice prompts and on-screen notifications, letting you know when you need to refill the water tank, or if you’ve activated detergent dispensing, for instance.

A bit noisy but long-lasting battery

The H14 Pro isn’t particularly quiet. While it’s slightly louder, it’s on par with similar products. It’s not overly disruptive, but you won’t be able to hold a conversation, watch TV, or listen to music comfortably while vacuuming.

As for battery life, it offers about 40 minutes of runtime on a single charge, which is enough for most homes. When using the strongest settings, this figure slightly drops, down to about half an hour.

Simple but messy maintenance

Since the H14 Pro is designed to tackle dry and wet messes, cleaning it can be filthy. Thankfully, it’s not too bad, since most of the maintenance consists of emptying and rinsing the dirty water tank and its filter. The separator does a decent job in separating large particles from water, meaning you can throw them in the trash while emptying the dirty water in the sink or toilet.

The vacuum handles most of the maintenance on its own. First, a blade scrapes off dirt from the roller when cleaning, ensuring most dirt doesn’t stick to it. When placed in the dock, the roller is washed with hot water and then dried with hot air. This process helps reduce bacteria, mildew, and bad odors. During the cleaning process, the roller rotates in both directions, ensuring it’s cleaned thoroughly and hair is properly removed. You can start a self-cleaning cycle manually, or configure the vacuum to start it automatically when it’s placed in the dock.

The H14 Pro offers two drying options. You can opt for a quiet drying that takes about one hour, or an express one that takes five minutes, but is noticeably louder.

Once in a while, it’s essential to remove the brush roller and clean it, ensuring it’s clear of any debris and hair.

Is the Dreame H14 Pro the right wet-dry vacuum for you?

The Dreame H14 Pro brings advanced cleaning to your home. It features hot water roller washing, automatic dirt detection, and app-controlled customization, all aimed at making daily cleaning easier and more thorough. The self-cleaning and drying functions also cut down on maintenance, which is a bonus for busy schedules.

However, the H14 Pro’s bulk and nearly 6 kg weight make it harder to maneuver, and at its price point, it may be more than you need if simplicity is your goal. While it excels with most messes, it can leave streaks on tougher stains, even after letting the floors dry.

If you’re looking for a high-performing, feature-rich vacuum and don’t mind the added weight or cost, the Dreame H14 Pro is a strong choice. Otherwise, lighter or more affordable options, like the Roborock Flexi, are probably a smarter purchase.
