Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni review: Outstanding cleaning for a decent price

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni is the brand’s answer to mid-range and more affordable robovacs, like the Roborock Qrevo Pro and the Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2. These pack most of the latest cleaning features, without the extra bells and whistles. While they’re not as capable as high-end models like the Dreame X40 Master or even sub flagship ones like the Roborock Qrevo Curv, they hit the sweet spot of balancing features and affordability.

With the Deebot N30 Pro Omni, Ecovacs offers a robot vaccum and mop combo that features hot water mop washing, hot air drying, an extending side mop, and even a new anti-tangle technology. In essence, it’s a slightly less capable version of the Ecovacs Deebot T30 Omni that we previously reviewed.

In this detailed review, let’s see if this new version is worth the upgrade, and how it compares to the competition.

Discreet design

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni has an updated, more vertical dock design with two large water tanks at the top. The clean water tank, located at the front, is transparent, allowing you to quickly check the water level and access it easily. The dirty water tank, in contrast, sits at the back and is opaque, concealing the soiled water. Both tanks feature built-in handles and fully opening lids. This can a bit awkward when carrying or filling them, as the water tends to shift sideways inside the tanks.

At the front, a removable front panel conceals the dust bag for a cleaner, more streamlined look. At the bottom, the baseplate includes a fully detachable washboard, making it easier to clean in the sink.

The robot’s design is fairly standard, featuring a round shape with a LiDAR dome and three buttons at the top. It has obstacle sensors positioned at both the front and back but lacks an onboard camera. Underneath, the Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni includes a hybrid roller brush that combines silicone blades and bristles for effective dust capture. The updated ZeroTangle technology now incorporates a V-shaped comb, efficiently directing hair to prevent tangling. While the side brush doesn’t extend, one of the mop pads can reach along baseboards and furniture legs for more thorough edge cleaning.

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni is available in black and white, but its build quality is somewhat underwhelming, with lower-grade plastics throughout the dock and robot.

Simplistic app

Compared to its competitors, the Ecovacs app falls a bit short. It’s disappointing it still hasn’t been updated to be as intuitive as Roborock’s and Dreame’s.

The map design feels outdated, making it hard to distinguish rooms. You can edit the map to rename, merge or split rooms, but the overall experience isn’t very intuitive. The app also allows you to create customized cleaning scenarios with room-specific settings, like higher suction power in the kitchen.

You can choose between vacuum-only, mop-only, simultaneous vacuum and mop, or a sequential cleaning approach. There is no AI-featured cleaning mode, so you have to manually adjust the cleaning settings. These include the suction power, water flow, and cleaning speed. Choosing a slower one allows the robot to focus more thoroughly on stains and dirt.

The app also lets you adjust advanced settings, such as mop washing and auto-empty frequency, obstacle detection, and mop extension options. By default, the robot continuously extends the right mop to reach deeper into corners and crevices. It detects carpets and adjusts its behavior accordingly—either lifting the mops, avoiding carpets, or mopping over them based on your preferences. Additionally, you can choose between standard and deep mop washing and select whether or not to use hot water.

The robovac integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant, but lacks the built-in Yiko voice assistant for direct control.

Good vacuuming performance

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni features a powerful 10,000Pa suction, making it highly effective on both carpets and hard floors. It can vacuum dirt from these surfaces, thoroughly reaching into carpet fibers and floor grouts for a deep clean. Additionally, its bristled roller brush is designed to lift and sweep debris for improved results, without risking hair entanglements.

In my tests, I put the robot through challenging conditions, asking it to clean floors covered with dirt, sand, mud, leaves, and pet hair. The Deebot T30 Omni handled it impressively, successfully removing all visible dust, dirt, and debris.

Its strong suction power also excels on rugs, reaching deep into thick carpet fibers. However, for high-pile carpets, a dual roller brush, like the one on the Roborock Qrevo Master, can be a better option as it provides more thorough coverage and lifts embedded debris more effectively.

Excellent mopping results

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni comes equipped with two rotating, liftable mop pads that are washed with 60ºC hot water before, during, and after each cleaning session. The dock also refills the robot’s built-in water tank, ensuring the mops stay damp throughout the cleaning process. While the N30 Pro Omni doesn’t have a built-in tank for cleaning solution, you can add a bit of detergent to the clean water tank for optimal results.

In testing, I challenged the N30 Pro Omni with dried coffee, sauce, juice, and mud stains on the floor. It managed to remove every stain, and rarely needed a second pass. For highly soiled floors, it’s best to use the slower cleaning mode with the highest water flow for the best performance. This ensures stains are removed thoroughly, as the robot spends more time cleaning the stains, while using a high quantity of water.

The TruEdge system is particularly effective, as the robot cleans with the mop extended, retracting it only when necessary. It also adjusts its path to avoid leaving uncleaned bands, a common issue with other models, especially Dreame ones.

Overall, the Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni delivers impressive mopping results, rivaling even high-end competitors.

Perfectible obstacle detection

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni uses LiDAR technology for mapping and navigation, supported by an obstacle detection system. However, it falls short compared to Dreame and Roborock models, often behaving unpredictably. While it generally navigates to specific rooms accurately, it tends to follow unusual paths, sometimes missing areas or covering the same spots multiple times. It also struggles with partially closed doors, frequently bumping into them for a while before moving on to other rooms.

The obstacle detection on the N30 Pro Omni is okay, but not the best in its class. It manages to detect large items like shoes, large toys, and boxes. However, it may miss smaller obstacles like cables, rags, and thin furniture legs.

This erratic navigation is somewhat typical of Ecovacs robots, which can be a problem in larger homes with kids and pets who might leave items on the floor. The same holds true if you tend to leave stray cables or other small objects on the floor.

Noisier than some other options

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni is significantly louder than some other models. The station is quite noisy when washing the mops or emptying the dust bin. It’s also quite loud when drying the mops, making it a bit annoying if it’s in your living room.

The robot itself is also louder than average. Its wheels produce a high amount of noise, while the suction is moderately loud on low settings. That’s a bit disappointing, considering some other models come with higher suction

Battery life is solid, offering up to 320 minutes on the lowest settings. Depending on your cleaning settings, you should get about 200 minutes on average, which is still very good.

Easy maintenance and care

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni is fairly easy to maintain. The dock features large water tanks and a big dust bag, which helps minimize human intervention. The washboard is also removable, making it easier to clean. There’s also a dedicated cleaning mode that fills the washboard with water, which you then scrub. When you’re done, the dock pumps it back, helping make the process easier on you. Also, to prevent mildew and bad odors, the dock uses hot water and hot air to wash and dry the mops. However, it’s best to machine wash them once a month as the washboard isn’t as thorough as the dedicated high-speed brush on high-end Roborock models.

As for the robot, it doesn’t require much maintenance. All you need to do is remove potential debris and hair from it once in a while. The new ZeroTangle 2.0 system is slightly better at tackling hair entanglements compared to the previous version. I’ve found a few hairs wrapped around the roller, but definitely not as much as I would have on other models with bristled roller brushes.

However, I’ve noticed there’s a lot of dirt that tends to accumulate around the brush and on the removable cover. For optimal performance, it’s best to manually clean these parts about once a week to avoid issues.

Is the Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni the right robovac for you?

The Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni offers a good balance between cleaning features and affordability. While it doesn’t come with all the extras top-tier models might offer, it provides excellent cleaning capabilities.

However, the robot does have some limitations. Its navigation and obstacle detection can be inconsistent, and other models tend to provide better results on that aspect. Also, the Ecovacs app lags behind the competition, offering an aging user experience.

Ultimately, if you’re looking for an affordable robot vacuum that delivers on core cleaning features without needing premium smart navigation or app controls, the Ecovacs Deebot N30 Pro Omni is a strong contender. It offers great cleaning performance, but isn’t as user-friendly as some competing options. If you have a house with plenty of obstacles around, it’s probably not the best option. Otherwise, it’s worth considering it.
