The Eureka J15 Pro Ultra offers advanced cleaning features, combining hot water mop washing, AI dirt and obstacle detection, and an extending mop pad to clean along baseboards and corners. While these features are usually found in pricey models that cost over $1,000, like the Roborock Qrevo MaxV and Dreame L40 Ultra, the Eureka J15 Pro Ultra is priced more aggressively while offering similar features.
Compared to other models from Eureka, like the Eureka J20 Ultra and the Eureka J12 Ultra, the J15 Pro Ultra feels more premium and on par with leading robovac brands. In this detailed review, let’s dive deeper into how it compares to the competition and whether it’s worth considering it.

Premium and bespoke design
Unlike other Eureka models I’ve reviewed, the J15 Pro Ultra boasts a premium and modern appearance. It feels less bulky than the J12 and J20, while also looking more refined. The overall design remains discreet, with the two water tanks directly accessible from the top. On the front, a large cover houses the water tank and the dust bag. At the bottom, the baseplate is fully removable, making it much easier to maintain.
The robot itself looks similar to other Eureka models. It features a rounded square shape, designed to make it easier to clean corners. The rest of the design is quite traditional, with a LiDAR dome at the top and a camera at the front for obstacle detection. On the underside, the robot features two rotating mop pads, a bristled roller brush, and a side brush.
The overall build quality is good. The robot and dock feel sturdy and durable, which is a huge improvement over other Eureka models we’ve reviewed.
Decent app, with plenty of customizable settings
In past reviews, I found the Eureka app unintuitive. Thankfully, things have greatly improved with the J15 Pro Ultra.
During setup, the robot creates a map of your house, segmenting the rooms using its sensors. You can then adjust the map by merging or dividing rooms. Similarly, you can create no-go zones, virtual walls, no-mop zones, and thresholds. The app also lets you customize the floor material, position carpets, and adjust the furniture displayed on the map.
The J15 Pro Ultra offers plenty of cleaning modes. You can let the smart mode automatically adjust the parameters using AI. Alternatively, you can choose between Vacuum & Mop, Vacuum then Mop, Vacuum, or Mop. You can adjust the suction level, mop dampness, the path, and whether to perform a crisscross sweeping. There’s even a customizable mode that lets you refine these settings and the cleaning sequence for each room.
The app also offers plenty of customizable options. For instance, you can adjust the robot’s behavior when encountering carpets. This can range from ignoring them to avoiding them. You can even ask the robot to cross them, or adapt by lifting the mop pads and increasing the suction power. Similarly, you can adjust the edge cleaning settings, and even the hair cutting settings. The latter is particularly handy if you have pets at home, or tend to lose a lot of hair.
You can also control the station settings very finely, including the mop washing and self-emptying frequency. Similarly, you can adjust the mop washing thoroughness, water temperature, and drying duration. The same goes for the AI cleaning settings, where you can enable intelligent deep cleaning and spot stain cleaning. You can also control whether the AI obstacle detection should take pictures when encountering obstacles, allowing it to display them on the map.
Although the J15 Pro Ultra doesn’t come with a built-in voice assistant, it’s compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa. This means you can control it using smart speakers you may have at home.
Impressive suction power
The Eureka J15 Pro Ultra comes with an impressive 16,200Pa suction power. This is enough to capture dirt and debris on any surface, including carpets. The robot efficiency reaches into grouts and even deep into fibers, which is perfect for high-pile rugs. A dual roller brush would have been even better for thick carpets, but the J15 Pro Ultra’s bristled brush does a great job at picking up dirt from tiles and hard floors. It efficiently sweeps them into the suction power and even reaches into thin grouts.
The side brush doesn’t extend, unlike some competing products like the Roborock Qrevo MaxV or Dreame L40 Ultra. However, the robot’s shape means it reaches into corners quite easily. It can also intelligently slow down when encountering heavy dirt, allowing the robot to vacuum it effectively. Unfortunately, it struggles a bit more to clean along thin kitchen baseboards, putting hidden dirt out of its reach. Despite this, it does a great job at tackling most dirt, debris, and dust.
Good mopping performance
The Eureka J15 Pro Ultra is equipped with two rotating mop pads, with one of them able to extend to clean corners and along baseboards. The robot also intelligently lifts them to avoid wetting carpets or areas it’s only passing through. The station can use very hot water at 75ºC to wash the mop pads before, during, and after each mopping cycle. This makes it easier to tackle tough stains, while maximizing hygiene. Unfortunately, there is no detergent tank in the station. This means you have to manually add some cleaning solution when refilling it with clean water for optimal results.
The robot also has an onboard water tank, which the station refills when the mops are washed. This ensures they’re constantly dampened, preventing them from drying out.
The overall cleaning results are good. The Eureka J15 Pro Ultra effectively tackles and removes most stains effectively. However, it sometimes has a hard time handling dried dirt. Thankfully, a second pass is all it needs to make floors sparkle. Also, the robot comes with built-in AI features that allow it to detect dirt and stains to automatically adjust its cleaning strategy and trigger a second pass if needed. For instance, when it senses liquids, it stops vacuuming, backs up to mop it and then returns to the dock to wash the mop before resuming cleaning.
For the hardest stains, the robot can automatically re-mop areas it recognizes as dirty. With this, you’re sure your floors are left completely clean, even when they’re particularly dirty.
Reliable navigation
The Eureka J15 Pro does an excellent job at navigating. It uses a LiDAR dome to map your house and find its way around it. It does a good job at finding the right path to navigate from room to room, and reliably returns to its dock when finished. During our tests, it’s never gotten stuck, even when I deliberately blocked its way with obstacles.
Speaking of which, obstacle recognition is also dependable on the J15 Pro Ultra. The front camera precisely recognizes objects and even takes pictures of them for you to review in the app.
Obstacle recognition is quite reliable, thanks to the built-in RGB camera. The latter detects obstacles, including small ones like cables. The robot gets relatively close to them, but still manages to avoid them efficiently. Depending on your settings, it may even gently bump into them. It even takes pictures of obstacles and plots them on the map, allowing you to see what blocked its way. At night, it automatically turns on its LED lights to increase visibility. Depending on how often there may be obstacles on the floor, you can adjust the sensitivity settings. In my case, the robot has failed to detect a sponge that fell on the floor, which it ended up vacuuming, due to its high suction power.
Decent noise levels and battery life
The Eureka J15 Pro Ultra is within the market average when it comes to noise. It’s not particularly loud, but isn’t as quiet as the Roborock Qrevo Pro, for instance. On average settings, it produces about 65dB, which shouldn’t bother you when working or having a conversation. The mop drying process is impressively quiet, while the mop washing is moderately loud.
Battery life, on the other hand, lasts about an hour and a half on average settings. This isn’t enough to thoroughly clean a whole house with two passes. The robot can return to its station to recharge before resuming its task, but the way it does it doesn’t make much sense. Indeed, it doesn’t precisely calculate how much battery it’ll need to finish the task, and ends up resuming work too early. It then returns to the station for another charging break, creating a very frustrating experience.
Simplified maintenance
Maintenance on the Eureka J15 Pro Ultra is a bit of a mixed bag. Its large water tanks and dust bag mean you don’t have to care for them too often. The baseplate is also removable, making it easy to clean in a sink. However, it doesn’t feature a self-cleaning system, which means you have to do it quite often. Otherwise, dirt tends to accumulate and dry out, making it harder to clean.
As for the robot, it does require a good wipe once in a while, and potentially removing stuck hair from the side brush and caster wheel. However, the main brush is truly tangle-free, thanks to a cutting system that prevents hair from getting wrapped around it.
As for the mops, although they’re cleaned with hot water and dried with hot air, it’s a good idea to machine wash them about once a month for optimal hygiene.
Is the Eureka J15 Pro Ultra the right robovac for you?
The Eureka J15 Pro Ultra boasts premium features like AI-powered dirt detection, an extending mop, and advanced obstacle recognition. More importantly, it does so at a price that undercuts many high-end competitors. With its impressive suction power, efficient mopping capabilities, and reliable navigation, it offers a well-rounded cleaning experience. Its app customization options make it easy to tailor the cleaning process to your specific needs, whether you have pets, carpets, or a mix of surfaces.
That said, if you prioritize ultra-quiet operation, automatic detergent dispensing, or extended battery life, you may find better options in higher-priced models.. However, the J15 Pro Ultra’s ability to re-mop and adapt its cleaning strategy using AI often compensates for these minor drawbacks.
If you’re looking for a high-performing robovac with advanced features, premium build quality, and smart customization, all without the $1,000+ price tag, the Eureka J15 Pro Ultra is an excellent choice.
