An all-new design

Unlike the rest of the Qrevo lineup, the new Qrevo Curv stands out with a distinctive design. True to its name, the dock features a curved shape, setting it apart from other Roborock models. It’s relatively compact, measuring 450x450x450mm. The base of the station is made of grey plastic, while the upper section has a glossy white finish. It doesn’t include an extension ramp and instead almost fully encloses the robot.

It’s also the first Roborock model to come with a top cover that hides the 4L clean water tank and 3L waste water tank. Just like Roborock flagships, the dust bag is now at the top, hidden under a plastic cover. Sadly, though, there’s no built-in detergent tank, meaning you have to add it manually in the clean water tank. Thankfully, the baseplate is fully removable, making it easy to clean. It also comes with built-in scrapers, helping to remove most dirt from the washboard. Overall, this approach makes it a better looking product, making you want to showcase it in your interior.

The robot’s appearance is more familiar, with a circular shape and standard dimensions at 352x347x103mm. It comes with two rotating mop pads, one of which can extend to clean along baseboards. It also features a new robotic arced side mop, helping clean corners while preventing hair entanglements. For vacuuming, it uses a new DuoDivide roller brush system with two small hybrid brushes. They feature bristles and rubberized parts, helping tackle dirt and dust.

Powerful and user-friendly app

During the setup, the robot maps your home, segmenting rooms and identifying furniture autonomously.

You can then adjust room divisions, set virtual boundaries or no-go zones, and fine-tune furniture placement. The Qrevo Curv can store up to four distinct maps and automatically orient itself within them.

Through the Roborock app, you have detailed control over cleaning parameters. You can adjust suction strength, mop moisture levels, and cleaning order. These settings can also be tailored for individual rooms. This allows, for example, a deeper clean in the kitchen compared to other areas. Alternatively, you can use the SmartPlan AI mode and let the robot automatically adjust the cleaning strategy based on the room types and dirt levels.

Customization options are extensive, allowing you to adjust how the robot cleans. For instance, you can control whether it should follow the grain of the floor, or re-mop soiled areas automatically. It also intelligently handles carpets by either avoiding them, raising the mops to prevent wetting, or even cleaning them with water. The dock can be configured to wash mops using hot or room temperature water, at adjustable intervals. An off-peak charging mode is available to help reduce energy costs.

The robot also comes with an onboard camera that you can use for home monitoring, allowing remote movement control and real-time video streaming. It also has two-way audio, making it handy for checking on pets. Speaking of which, the robot can automatically take pictures of your pet while cleaning, allowing you to keep an eye on them when you’re not home.

You can control the Roborock Qrevo Curv using Google Assistant, Alexa, or its built-in assistant, Hello Rocky. It responds well to most commands and even turns in your direction when you call for it.

Outstanding vacuuming performance

The Roborock Qrevo Curv comes with the highest suction power I’ve ever seen, peaking at 18,500Pa. With such an impressive power, it can vacuum any floor type, from hardwood and tile, to high-pile carpets. The DuoDivide roller brush consists of two parallel short-bristle rollers, each featuring spiral blades. They direct dirt and hair toward the central dustbin opening, where strong suction quickly pulls it in for removal.

The robot tackles dust, dirt, and small particles with ease, and picks them up efficiently, leaving floors impressively clean. The robotic side brush features an asymmetric, arc-shaped design. It generates centrifugal force during rotation, preventing hair from tangling. At the same time, it pushes dirt and debris towards the main roller brush, to pick them up instantly. Since it extends automatically, it reaches into corners and furniture legs, ensuring no dust is left in these areas.

On carpets, the robot automatically increases suction power to ensure a deep clean. It reaches deep into rugs to extract embedded debris. The dual brush roller is highly effective at lifting and removing dirt from both carpets and hard floors, especially thanks to its hybrid design. For deep carpet cleaning, the robot even clean carpets separately after cleaning the room or prioritize cleaning carpets and rugs.

The Qrevo Curv deals well with pet hair. It’s been able to tackle my dog’s hair by vacuuming it off the floor and carpets, without any of it getting tangled in its brushes.

High mopping effectiveness

The Qrevo Curv uses two liftable mop pads to clean floors that rotate at 200 rpm. The dock washes them with hot water at 75ºC before and after each cleaning cycle, ensuring improved cleaning performance. It also refills the robot’s internal water tank, allowing the mop pads to stay humid throughout the cleaning process. Additionally, the robot can return to the dock at preset intervals to wash the mop pads, keeping them fresh during the entire cleaning session. The robot lifts the mop pads when moving to avoid unnecessary wetting of areas and can automatically raise its brush roller while mopping to prevent it from hovering ineffectively over the floor.

In practice, the results are impressive. The Qrevo Curv excels at mopping, with its extendable mop pads reaching baseboards for a thorough clean. Its FlexiArm design is particularly useful for corner cleaning, as the robot navigates around them and extends the mop to achieve deep cleaning.

The overall cleaning performance is very strong, with the Qrevo Curv effectively removing most stains, including tougher ones like dried coffee and sauces. During my testing, I added a small amount of detergent to the water tank, as there is no dedicated tank or cartridge for it. This, along with the hot water, helped tackle stains and dirt. While the most stubborn stains didn’t always disappear on the first pass, the robot uses AI and its camera to detect difficult spots and re-mop them automatically for better results. If I were to be critical, the VibraRise mop from the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra offers slightly better results, usually needing only one pass to remove most stains, but it does come at a significantly higher price.

Precise navigation and obstacle avoidance

The Qrevo Curv is equipped with both LiDAR and an RGB camera for advanced obstacle recognition. This enables it to navigate smoothly from room to room without getting stuck or lost. The robot always finds its way to the correct rooms and returns to its dock without issues. Even when I placed obstacles in its direct path, the robot successfully navigated around them, finding alternate routes to the rooms to clean.

The integrated AI camera enhances this by detecting and identifying obstacles, allowing the robot to efficiently avoid them. It can even capture images and mark them on the map, giving you a visual overview of missed spots. I purposely left various items like cables, shoes, and toys scattered on the floor, and the Qrevo Curv skillfully identified and avoided all of them.

The Qrevo Curv features an innovative AdaptiLift Chassis, allowing it to adjust the chassis height dynamically. It’s the first robovac with a fully liftable chassis, allowing it to handle more challenging home environments. It offers independent control over its three wheels, lifting the entire unit by up to 10mm. Alternatively, it can selectively raise the front, rear, left, or right sides depending on the surface. When the robot detects a high threshold, it automatically raises its caster wheel to clear it. With this, it can climb over thresholds up to 4cm. This is convenient to clear sliding door tracks and other thresholds that other robots can’t deal with.

However, there are occasional drawbacks with this feature. Indeed, the robot sometimes tries to climb over certain furniture legs or lamp bases rather than recognizing them as obstacles. Thankfully, it doesn’t get stuck, but it could end up damaging furniture. Should this happen, you can adjust the obstacle detection settings for the robot to be more careful.

Quiet operation with solid battery life

The Roborock Qrevo Curv is relatively quiet. It’s barely audible in quiet mode, making it unnoticeable when cleaning. However, the other modes are a bit louder. It’s not a problem per se, and doesn’t bother you when working or having a conversation, unless you’re using the highest setting.

Regarding battery life, Roborock claims up to 240 minutes of run time using the lowest settings. In our test and on relatively dirty floors, the overall runtime is about 180 minutes. This is still more than enough to deeply clean about 140 square meters on a single charge. In any case, the robot can automatically return to the dock and recharge if the battery runs low during cleaning. It then resumes cleaning once it has enough battery.

Simple to maintain

The Qrevo Curv is designed to prevent hair tangles, both in the main rollers, as well as the side brush. As a result, these are very easy to maintain, as very little hair gets wrapped around them. It’s best to clean them once in a while for best results, but this requires little effort.

Also, the docking station uses hot water and hot air to wash and dry the mops. As a result, this effectively reduces bacteria, mildew, and unpleasant odors while maintaining cleaning efficiency. However, unlike some higher-end Roborock models, the Qrevo Curv does not include a dedicated mop cleaning brush. Instead, it relies on a washboard with plastic pimples to scrub the mop, which isn’t as effective. It’s best to remove the mop pads about once a month, and throw them in the washer for best results.

The washboard is fully detachable, making it easier to clean in the sink. It also features built-in scrapers which clean it while the mops are washed, similar to the Dreame X40 Ultra. This reduces the amount of maintenance required, making it a breeze overall.

Sadly, there is no built-in detergent tank, so you need to add it manually while adding clean water. However, in some markets, the Qrevo Curv is available with a self-refilling dock, which comes with a built-in water tank.

Lastly, while Roborock added a brush to clean the caster wheel, it’s not very effective, and some hair does get wrapped around it. You’re better off removing it once it a while to clean it manually.

Is the Roborock Qrevo Curv the right robovac for you?

The Roborock Qrevo Curv offers a wide range of advanced features that make it a great option if you’re looking for a high-performing robot vacuum. With its powerful 18,500Pa suction, the innovative DuoDivide roller brush that prevents tangles, and its unique liftable chassis to handle high thresholds, the Qrevo Curv really stands out.

Although it comes with a price tag of $1,600, it’s still more affordable than flagship models like the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. You’ll get excellent value with features like efficient vacuuming, precise navigation, powerful mopping, and quiet operation. If you have pets, mixed flooring, or several rooms, the Qrevo Curv can handle it all, including pet hair and complex cleaning environments.

There are a few limitations, such as the lack of a built-in detergent tank and a mop cleaning system that’s not as advanced as more expensive models. However, these are minor issues considering how well the robot performs overall.

If you’re after a robot vacuum that delivers powerful cleaning, smart navigation, and easy maintenance, the Qrevo Curv is definitely worth considering. It provides high-end features without the flagship price, making it a solid investment for your home cleaning needs.
