Dreame has been at the forefront of the household appliance market. It manufactures some of the market-leading robovacs, such as the Dreame X40 Ultra. More recently, it’s expanded into the lawnmower market with the Dreame A1. Although less popular, Dreame makes excellent stick vacuums that can compete with the world’s leader Dyson. The latest Dreame Z30 packs plenty of suction power and accessories to outperform the competition.
In this detailed review, let’s see whether it’s worth considering and how it handles daily cleaning tasks.

Good
The Dreame Z30 is a high-end cordless vacuum with strong suction and versatile attachments. It excels on hard floors but struggles as a handheld due to its weight. While offering long battery life, its hefty design is a significant drawback. Ideal for primarily cleaning hard surfaces, the Z30 is a solid choice if you prioritize performance over portability.

Premium design and plenty of accessories
The Dreame Z30 is a premium appliance with an elegant design, sturdy materials, and excellent build quality. The main unit is bulky and heavy, weighing over 2kg. It features a large motor, a sizable handle, and a 0.6L dust bin for dirt collection. The appliance includes a removable 8 x 3 200mAh battery pack, allowing you to swap it with another to avoid cleaning interruptions. Facing you, there’s a small color screen and two buttons for intuitive operation. Inside the dust bin, multiple filters, including a foam filter and a HEPA filter, ensure most small particles are trapped before reaching the bin.
The Dreame Z30 comes with a whopping seven attachments. These include two floor cleaning heads: a multi-surface brush and a soft roller brush. Both feature built-in CelesTect LED lights to illuminate dirt and dust. The multi-surface brush also has anti-tangle technology, thanks to a comb that minimizes hair entanglements. Additionally, the package includes a motorized multi-brush, a combined crevice tool, a dusting tool, a soft dusting tool, and a pet grooming brush. It also comes with a flexible adapter and an extension tube.
The Z30 comes with a free-standing dock, allowing you to place it wherever you want. Like the main unit and accessories, the dock feels very premium and well-built. However, it has only three slots for accessories, so you need to store the others separately. Additionally, the vacuum must be charged by plugging in the main unit, as it does not automatically recharge when placed back in the dock. This requires removing and storing the cable when not in use and often picking it up to find the battery low.
Great cleaning performance, but mostly on hard floors
The Dreame Z30 boasts powerful 310AW suction, effectively collecting dust and large particles. It offers three cleaning modes: auto, eco, and max.
The Z30 excels on hard floors and carpets, sucking up most dirt and debris. It’s easy to maneuver and can lie flat to reach under furniture. It also includes a flexible attachment to use it at a 90º angle, preserving your back while cleaning under bed frames.
The screen displays particles collected, remaining battery percentage, and cleaning mode. The circular light also changes color based on dirt levels, ranging from green to red. Additionally, the two floor cleaning heads feature built-in blue LED lights to illuminate dust and missed areas.
However, the Dreame Z30 is less effective as a hand vacuum for baseboards, furniture, stairs, and upholstery. It defaults to the lowest suction setting, increasing only with a delay when sensing dirt. This often requires manual adjustment to max power. More importantly, the unit’s heaviness and size strain forearms during handheld use, making it inconvenient. While the Z30 excels on hard floors, its use as a hand vacuum is limited due to its weight and low suction power.
As for the pet grooming attachment, it’s well designed but complex to use. It doesn’t stay extended, making it difficult to brush pets properly as it pulls the main unit closer.
Decent battery life and noise levels
Dreame promises a runtime of up to 90 minutes for the Z30. In real use, it delivers about 70 minutes, which is decent, but not quite the same as expected. However, when trying to clean ceilings or baseboards, it’s best to use the max mode to catch dirt and dust. In this mode, the battery dies out after less than 15 minutes. It’s a shame Dreame doesn’t offer finer options to adjust the suction power, as an intermediary mode would have been enough.
The noise levels are decent, with the eco and auto mode producing about 60dB. The max mode is a bit noisier at 68db, but it remains acceptable, especially considering it won’t last more than 15 minutes.
Charging also takes a while, as the vacuum needs about 3.5 hours to recharge. Thankfully, you can purchase a spare battery to swap it out.
Easy maintenance and care
To empty the dustbin, you simply need to hold the Z30 over the trash bin and press the release button. This opens up the flap and releases the content into the trash. You do need to close it, though, but the process is still quite easy, provided you remove the attachments from the unit.
Maintaining the brush rollers and cleaning heads is also easy, as the different parts are easy to dismantle and reassemble. Also, the anti-entanglement technology prevents hair from being trapped in the bristles or brushes, preventing you from having to manually remove it. The filters and dustbin don’t require frequent care, but they’re easy to remove and wash when needed.
Is the Dreame Z30 the right stick vacuum for you?
The Dreame Z30 combines high suction power, easy maintenance, and a complete range of accessories into a single product. With so much to offer, no wonder it’s an upscale product, especially thanks to its premium design that features sturdy materials.
The Z30 does an excellent job on hard floors and carpets, providing powerful suction and effective dirt collection. However, although it includes useful attachments for various cleaning tasks, it’s less effective as a handheld vacuum due to its weight and lower suction settings. Indeed, the main unit is too heavy to be used for long periods of time.
This model offers a lot of versatility and comfortable battery life, but its weight is a major drawback that you need to consider. Despite this, if you’re mostly buying the Z30 to clean hard floors, it’s a practical choice if you’re looking for a high-performing stick vacuum.
