Back in 2017, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra set a new standard in the robovac market. This model was the first to feature a self-washing mop, thanks to its multifunctional dock. Since then, the brand has continuously innovated, with models like the S8 MaxV Ultra and Qrevo Curv.
This year at CES 2025, Roborock is launching a new lineup of flagships that once again raise the bar. Symbolically named Saros, it represents Roborock’s new Era of robot cleaners. The new series features three models: the Saros 10, Saros 10R, and Saros Z70.
Roborock Saros Z70
A robotic arm to move obstacles out of the way
The Roborock Saros Z70 is the brand’s most advanced product so far. It’s the first mass-produced robovac to feature a robotic arm to pick up objects. Called OmniGrip, it can fold itself into the robot’s body and deploy when needed. It can lift and put away small items under 300g like socks, papers, slippers, etc. The robotic arm can rotate on five axes and move both vertically and horizontally.
The OmniGrip’s operation is customizable using the Roborock app, allowing you to select which types of objects it should move and where to place them.
Improved navigation and slimmer robot
In addition to this innovative feature, the Saros Z70 also comes with a bunch of advanced functionality. It boasts Roborock’s new StarSight 2.0 navigation system, which combines 3D time-of-flight (ToF) sensors with RGB cameras, instead of a traditional LiDAR dome. It’s an improvement over the Qrevo Slim, which was the brand’s first product to feature the technology. The Saros Z70 also comes with the new VertiBeam lateral obstacle avoidance technology. This helps the robot more accurately see and clean around cables, irregular walls, and furniture.
Thanks to this, the Saros Z70 is the slimmest robot vacuum in the market, measuring just under 8 cm. This makes it easier to clean under hard-to-reach furniture. In addition, the robot’s adjustable chassis allows it to climb over small thresholds, similar to the Qrevo Curv.
Remarkable cleaning power
In terms of cleaning tech, the Saros Z70 comes with a whopping 22,000Pa of suction power, which is one of the highest we’ve seen. It also comes with a FlexiArm side brush, similar to the one found on the S8 MaxV Ultra. The robot also features two spinning mops, unlike its predecessors that relied on a vibrating mop. These can now be automatically detached and left in the dock when not in use, similar to the Dreame X40 Ultra. Roborock has also improved the mop washing temperature, now reaching an impressive 80ºC.
Just like on the latest Roborock flagships, the new Saros Z70 features a detergent tank in the dock. This allows it to automatically dispense cleaning solution and mix it with clean water, maximizing cleaning results.
It also comes with advanced AI features that intelligently adjust the robot’s cleaning behaviors and mop washing frequency. In addition, the Saros Z70 is compatible with Alexa, Google Home, Siri, and even Matter. It also comes with Roborock’s Hello Rocky voice assistant, which lets you control it with your voice, without the need for smart speakers at home.
What’s more, the Saros S70 also comes with pet-friendly features. Not only can it recognize your pet and help you keep an eye on them while you’re away, it can even take snippets of them while it’s cleaning. More interestingly, it can automatically stop its brush when approaching pets to avoid any accidents.
Roborock Saros 10R
In addition to the Saros S70, Roborock has also announced the Saros 10R. Both models are very similar, boasting the same navigational and obstacle sensing abilities. Their height and chassis remain the same, allowing the Saros 10R to slide under low furniture and clear most thresholds.
The main difference between the two is the lack of OmniGrip robotic arm on the Saros 10R. This feature is exclusive to the S70, and the Saros 10R is an excellent choice if you’re not looking to compromise on the cleaning abilities, while not needing obstacles to be cleared out of way automatically. This said, the suction power is slightly lower on the Saros 10R, peaking at 19,000Pa, which is already very high.
The mopping feature remains the same, with two detachable and liftable rotating pads. They’re also washed at 80ºC and dried in the dock, which also automatically dispenses cleaning solution. The Saros 10R also comes with the same AI Smart Plan 2.0 functionality, helping the robot automatically adjust its cleaning parameters.
As for smart home integration the Saros 10R also comes with Matter and Hello Rocky support, while also working with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri.
Roborock Saros 10
Despite having a similar name to the Saros 10R, the Saros 10 is actually quite different from the two models above. It comes with a more traditional mopping and navigation system, while boasting impressive cleaning power.
RetractSense navigation
Unlike the other two Saros models, the Saros 10 comes with a traditional LiDAR dome at the top, similar to what other traditional robovacs use. However, it’s upgraded with a ToF sensor for added precision and distance sensing. More interestingly, the module is retractable, allowing the robot to clean lower thresholds and clean under low furniture.
In addition, it also comes with an RGB camera and the same VertiBeam lateral structured light as the other two models, helping it sense and avoid obstacles efficiently.
Cleaning powerhouse
The Roborock Saros 10 comes with the same 22,000Pa suction power as the Saros Z70, together with the FlexiArm robotic side brush. It also uses an AdaptLift Chassis to clear thresholds more easily and also clean thick carpets.
However, unlike the other Saros models, it uses a VibraRise vibrating mop, similar to the ones found on the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. These are traditionally better at tackling tough stains, thanks to their sonic mop vibrating at 4,000 times per minute and 8N pressure. The Saros 10 also comes with an improved stain removal process, with the mop soaking dry stains first, before pressing on them to remove them.
Also, just like the Saros 10R and Z70, the Saros 10’s mop is removable. This means it can be detached and remain in the dock when vacuuming only, which is useful for high-pile carpets.
The dock is also similar to the other two, featuring detergent dispensing, as well as 80ºC mop washing and hot air drying.
Built-in AI and Smart Home tech
The Saros 10 also comes with the same Smart Plan 2.0 AI-based cleaning feature. It can automatically adjust the cleaning settings based on dirt levels so you don’t have to. What’s more, the robot comes with support for Google Assistant, Alexa, Siri, and Matter. It also features a built-in Hello Rocky voice assistant for added convenience.
Price and availability
The Saros lineup will be available during H1 2025. Both the Saros 10 and Saros 10R will be offered in regular version with water tanks, or a self refilling and draining one.
